i'm genuinely losing my mind over this??? i work in a retail pharmacy in ohio that's doing the shot and i don't have any idea what her medicare advantage plan has to do with anything since, as you said later in the article, that isn't even the card being billed it's the red/white/blue card!!! i know it's also as you said where they feared reprisal from higher ups which is kind of valid but i genuinely can't believe they didn't just give her the damn shot and get billing info later when she fixed it!!! sorry for so many exclamation points but im heated!!!
right, the whole thing is very confusing—because if it was just the regular-medicare plan why would it matter that it was another state/why would the claim be denied? but they told her that it was a billing problem, and even if it was just that they suspected she was in the wrong state, she had ample evidence she wasn't. so none of it makes sense. even if the whole thing is just a complete mistake it's very disconcerting if pharmacists are out there making decisions like this.
